Assistance After the Storm
Whether it’s navigating leave, checking in on benefit coverage, or helping communicate support to your team—we’re ready to help however we can.
Here are some quick tips and resources to help:
Personal Property Insurance:
Submit a claim with your insurance company.
Request a copy of the “dec page”, the insurance declaration page or insurance policy.
Take pictures of damage and cleanup efforts.
Keep all receipts.
If displaced from your home, get an invoice for “rent”, even if staying with a family member.
Health and Ancillary Insurance:
If injuries occur during cleanup, don’t forget to submit claims to any accident insurance, like Aflac, if applicable
Telehealth programs – Check your health insurance’s capabilities for prompt care and mental health resources virtually
Iowa Disaster Assistance Programs:
Governor Reynolds signed a Proclamation of Disaster Emergency on July 29.
This proclamation is for Sioux, Hancock, O’Brien, and Osceola counties.
Households can apply for Disaster Case Advocacy here.
This assists with disaster-related unmet needs which are those that households need to recover from the disaster. Examples may include navigating through insurance, financial resources, and application processes; locating housing options, advocating and supporting through the rebuild process; may also include basic and immediate needs such as food, clothing, shelter or first aid, and long term needs such as financial, physical, emotional or spiritual well-being.
Households can also apply for the Iowa Individual Disaster Assistant Grant Program (IIAGP) here.
Each qualifying household may receive up to $7,000.
IIAGP offers grants to families whose household’s annual income is at 200% or less of federal poverty level.
